There are an incredible number of misconceptions about this song. I have seen it attributed to Depeche Mode, Billy Idol, The Cure and another half dozen more famous synth-pop bands. Marc Almond is totally getting ripped off. But beyond that, poor Ed Cobb who wrote it, and Gloria Jones who first sang it, they have lost all due credit
Hopefully this sets a few things straight.
