happy vernal equinox
This is one of the best ballets ever in my opinion, and it was written in the 20th century.
Le sacre du printemps has music by the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and the original choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky. This segment I found shows the original choreography of the final scene titled
"Sacrificial Dance" where a girl has been chosen by her people to dance herself to death as a sacrifice to spring. More info HERE.
SONG OF THE DAY: "The Rite of Spring: Sacrifical Dance" - Igor Stravinsky
Mr. IMo? recommends the jazz remake he heard by The Bad Plus on NPR today.
