Beautiful South -Choke
I really enjoy bands like The Beautiful South and Pink Martini; the way they juxtapose tame radio friendly sounds with lyrical stories not quite as lovely and sublime. The hard and soft qualities give a delightful balance that I find appealing in everything from clothing to art to music. Yin and yang. Perfect balance.
This isn't my favorite album, I prefer 0898, which will be featured later, but this is the one plucked from the box today. It does have a few great tunes though, today's choice, plus "I Think the Answer's Yes" and "A Little Time" which was the band's only song to reach #1 on the charts.
